O trabalho teve início na escala da cidade, começando pela compreensão do território e de como a inexistência de um planeamento mais amplo origina os vazios urbanos. Por conseguinte, identifica-se a área de estudo como um vazio urbano expectante localizado num território periurbano, que se caracteriza como um espaço de transição entre as zonas rurais e as áreas urbanas, sendo espaços que estão a crescer na sua urbanização.
As famílias contemporâneas procuram cada vez mais habitações que consigam adaptar-se às suas questões sociais, culturais e económicas. Desta forma, houve a preocupação de abordar a habitação evolutiva e flexível, por forma a conseguir responder aos estilos de vida distintos, sem que as habitações fiquem desajustadas. Com a constante instabilidade e mutação na sociedade vê-se na arquitetura a obrigação de atuar, construindo habitações que proporcionem a adaptabilidade necessária. Neste sentido o projeto aborda a habitação evolutiva no contexto de habitação plurifamiliar, com base nos conceitos e estratégias de flexibilidade.
The work began on the scale of the city, starting with the understanding of the territory and how the lack of broader planning leads to urban voids. Therefore, the study area is identified as an expecting urban void located in a periurban territory, which is characterized as a transition space between rural and urban areas, being spaces that are growing in it's urbanization. Contemporary families are increasingly looking for housing that can adapt to social, cultural and economic issues. Thus, there was a concern to approach the evolutionary and flexible housing in order to be able to respond to different lifestyles, without the dwellings becoming unadjusted. With the constant instability and change in society, architecture is the obligation to act, to build housing that provides the necessary adaptability. In this sense, the project addresses evolutionary housing in the context of multi-family housing, based on the concepts and strategies of flexibility.
