unidades didácticas Eating Habits e Christmas in English speaking countries:
The present Teaching Practice Report aims at accounting for the teaching practice process and at showing that the intercultural approach plays an important role in the process of teaching and learning English as a foreign language. Anchored on the assumption that in order to communicate effectively in English one needs, not only to acquire a sound knowledge of the language, but also to develop an intercultural awareness, I used strategies, methodology and resources so as to provide information about the target culture and lead the students to acknowledge the differences between their own culture and the culture of English speaking countries, namely U.K. and U.S.A.. The interest shown by students during my teaching practice as far as the topics Eating Habits and Christmas in English speaking countries: U.K. and U.S.A. are concerned, as well as the commitment in carrying out the different classroom activities, allow me to conclude that incorporating intercultural awareness in language teaching may, on the one hand, increase the learners’ motivation and, on the other hand, promote attitudes of openness, tolerance and respect towards the other.
