O processo de desindustrialização na zona Oriental de Lisboa, deixou este território - “Caminho do Oriente” - em
esquecimento, repleto de edifícios com valor patrimonial e inúmeras infra-estruturas viárias e ferroviárias em desuso, que formam
barreiras físicas e visuais, que impedem o relacionamento entre o habitante e a água. Ao mesmo tempo, estas zonas industriais e
portuárias devolutas, tornam este território num fragmento esquecido e desconectado do restante.
O presente trabalho tem como temas principais, a evolução da relação entre a cidade e a frente de água, a evolução do
conceito de Património e Património Industrial, bem como, a revitalização urbana destas áreas industriais e portuárias,
fragmentadas e desconectadas do restante território.
O trabalho aqui apresentado, está dividido em duas partes, uma parte de fundamentação teórica, onde é feita uma análise
dos temas anteriormente referidos e a outra parte de carácter mais prático, onde se desenvolve uma estratégia, um plano e um
edifício. Este trabalho pretende criar novamente a relação outrora existente entre o habitante e a água, e contribuir para a
reintegração deste território no contexto da cidade de Lisboa, através da criação de uma nova centralidade.
ABSTRACT: The process of deindustrialization in the Eastern zone of Lisbon, left this territory - “Caminho do Oriente" - in oblivion, full of heritage-worthy buildings and numerous disused railway and road infrastructures, which form physical and visual barriers that prevent the relationship between the inhabitant and the water. At the same time, these industrial and port areas make this territory a forgotten fragment and disconnected from the rest. The main themes of this work are the evolution of the relationship between the city and the water front, the evolution of the concept of Heritage and Industrial Heritage, as well as the urban revitalization of these industrial and port areas, fragmented and disconnected from the rest of the territory. The work presented here is divided into two parts, a part of theoretical foundation, where it is made an analysis of the mentioned themes above and another part of practical nature, where a strategy, a plan and a building are developed. This work intends to create once again the existing relation between the inhabitant and the water and to contribute to the reintegration of this territory in the context of the city of Lisbon, through the creation of a new centrality.
