| dc.description.abstract | A frente ribeirinha norte do concelho de Almada consiste numa extensão de sensivelmente dez quilómetros entre a Cova do Vapor, extremo Poente, e Cacilhas, extremo Nascente. É um território fortemente marcado pela presença de indústrias ao longo da margem e pelas povoações, as quais no seu percurso no tempo entraram em degradação, abandono e esquecimento. Ambas as realidades, indústria e povoação, tal como existem actualmente, constituem um tecido de fragmentos com ligações fragilizadas. É um território complexo também devido à relação entre a margem e os tecidos urbanos mais recentes, os elementos singulares de património construído, e o extenso património natural de fauna e flora que caracteriza Almada e que, por sua vez, faz parte do sistema maior biológico e ecológico do estuário do Tejo. A própria margem não é percorrível, não só pelo facto das indústrias constituírem obstáculo, mas também devido à topografia muito acentuada. Desta forma, a proposta que por via deste trabalho se apresenta, consiste essencialmente numa estrutura de espaço público ao longo de toda a frente de rio com o intuito de servir como instrumento de ligação e articulação entre cada um dos elementos que compõem o território, procurando oferecer um sentido de continuidade à macro escala, à luz da visão intermunicipal que actualmente existe de qualificação das frentes ribeirinhas e costeiras no país. Essa estrutura assume também a função de proteger os aglomerados urbanos e as indústrias da subida do nível médio das águas do mar, projectado para um mínimo de cem anos, sendo que a intenção não é que essa estrutura se resuma a uma barragem ou muro, mas que seja desenhada como passeio ribeirinho, acomodando percursos e espaços com determinado programa, procurando ainda salvaguardar relações entre a terra e a água que no futuro serão perdidas caso um projecto desta natureza não seja concretizado. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | The northern riverfront of the Almada’s municipality has an extension of about ten kilometres between Cova do Vapor, western edge, and Cacilhas, eastern edge. It is a territory heavily marked by the presence of industries along its shoreline and by settlements, which have entered into decay, forgotten and abandoned through time. Both realities, industry and settlements, as they exist today, constitute a fabric of fragments with fragile connections. It is also a complex territory due to the relationship between the margin and the most recent urban neighbourhoods, the singular elements of built heritage, and the extensive natural heritage of fauna and flora that characterize Almada, which in turn are part of the larger biological and ecological system of the Tagus estuary. The margin itself is not walkable, not only because the industries are an obstacle, but also due to the very steep topography. As such, the proposal presented herein consists essentially on a structure of public space along the entire riverfront to serve has an instrument of linkage and articulation between each of the elements that compose the territory, while looking to offer a sense of continuity on the larger scale, under the intermunicipal vision that exists today of qualifying riverfronts and coastlines throughout the country. This structure also assumes a function of protecting the settlements and the industries against the rising of the sea water level, projected for a minimum of one hundred years, being that the intention is not for such structure to resume itself to a wall, but to be designed as a river promenade, accommodating trails and spaces with given programs, while looking to safeguard the relations between water and land that in the future will be lost in case a project of this nature is not realized. | pt_PT |
