Abstract(s)
The present Supervised Teaching Practice Report is part of the Geography Teaching Master’s Degree of the Institute of Geography and Spatial Planning of the University of Lisbon and presents the result of a teaching sequence developed within the scope of Maritime Resources. The didactic experience took place at the Rainha Dona Leonor Secondary School, in the discipline of Geography A applied to class 9 of the 10th grade in a mixed regime (distance and presential teaching, due to the pandemic), with the guidance and monitoring of a cooperating teacher. It aimed to involve students in the construction of their own learning through guided research, promoting the discussion and sharing of this knowledge to the group and, through the introduction of games, facilitating the apprenticeship of concepts and consolidation of the subject, stimulating motivation, and providing a dynamic and fun character to the class, while these same activities were used as formative assessment instruments. The main objective is to teach a Geography that opens horizons, "outside the box", that analyses and investigates current problems of today's society, educating active, creative, and responsible citizens. It was possible to verify that there was a positive learning of concepts and content, in general, and that the variety of activities, such as the adaptation of games in class, was beneficial in the motivation for the study. The students with the best average performance were those who showed greater participation in the different strategies. It could be observed, at the end of the school year, that most students showed to have acquired greater awareness of the main problems in the scope of the subject taught, as well as of the potential active role they can play in favour of their mitigation.
