Abstract(s)
Environmental issues seem to have lost their primacy in public opinion today in the face of the emergence of the âcoronaâ virus pandemic, even if it is determined for environmental reasons. this may explain the lack of environmental legislation drawn up because of the pandemic and the almost exclusive concern of public authorities with waste collection and treatment policies. As regards the collection and treatment of waste, however, environmental public policies make paradoxically anti-environmental decisions, temporarily terminating waste treatment and opting for incineration or landfilling, as well as suspending separate door-to-door waste collection in lisbon. and the texto ends with a poem by Fernando Pessoa that confronts us with âthe eternal returnâ of garbage, which is particularly appropriate in the current situation.
