O presente trabalho tem como principal objetivo refletir sobre as metodologias de intervenção na Perturbação do Espectro do Autismo (PEA) a partir do paradigma da diversidade. Pretende-se rever o estado da arte sobre a classificação, diagnóstico e abordagem terapêutica da PEA; avaliar as diferentes áreas em que se verifica um comprometimento do desenvolvimento; refletir sobre as diferentes metodologias de intervenção tendo em conta a situação distinta de cada criança; avaliar o impacto de cada intervenção em função da diversidade observada nas crianças com PEA.
O trabalho analisa três estudos de caso referentes a três crianças com PEA e que são seguidas no Centro de Neurodesenvolvimento do Hospital de Santa Maria. O estudo tem uma natureza interpretativa, partindo de uma análise do processo de diagnóstico até às respostas terapêuticas dadas às crianças.
Tendo em conta a grande variabilidade fenotípica do espectro, devem ser perspetivadas diferentes metodologias de intervenção, considerando não só a idade cronológica da criança e o seu nível de desenvolvimento, mas também a presença ou ausência de comorbilidades como a Perturbação do Desenvolvimento Intelectual (PDI), a qual constitui um dos mais importantes fatores de prognóstico a médio e longo prazo.
The main purpose of the present work is to think over the intervention on autism spectrum disorder (ASD) from the paradigm of diversity. We intend to review the literature about the classification, diagnosis and therapeutic approach of ASD; to evaluate the different areas of developmental impairment; to think over the different interventions taking into account the single situation of each child; to evaluate the impact of each intervention in the diverse situations of each child. The investigation is focused on three case reports of three children with ASD of the Neurodevelopmental Center of Hospital de Santa Maria in Lisbon. The study has an interpretive nature, starting from the diagnosis process analysis to the therapeutic outcomes. Because of the wide phenotypic variability of the spectrum, we should consider not only the child’s age and level of development, but also the presence or absence of comorbidities as Intellectual Developmental Disorder (IDD), which is one of the most important prognosis factors.
