Resumo(s)
This dissertation focuses on studies done over the centuries on the anthropometric analysis of the face and its variants, gathering conditions to analyse a real sample collected solely for that purpose by the five populations of the Mediterranean coast of the Iberian Peninsula. It is a study which extends not only into the field of art but also into the History and Science fields. Throughout this study an approach is made of the history of living beings and, in more detail, of the history of man: his expansion through the planet and subsequent anthropological studies, his genetic nature, his genetic variation, the notion of race, ethnicity and population, the history of Europe and its relationship to language. Finally the study made over the centuries by artists and scientists in the fields of anatomy, physiognomy, anthropology and anthropometry. These fields are studied, analysed and linked throughout the first chapters to culminate in a study in which the acquired knowledge is put into practice. This final study proves the intrinsic correlation between the Arts and the Science and magnifies and encourages this mutual exchange of knowledge in order to achieve bigger and better results
