O Palácio Nacional da Ajuda, antiga Residência Real e hoje Museu de Artes Decorativas, apresenta um vasto espólio que afirma e assinala o esplendor do património cultural português. As suas vidraças e vitrais, elementos patrimoniais integrantes da estrutura arquitetónica do edifício, constituem um exemplo fenomenal do vidro enquanto arte ornamental que carece, no entanto, de uma aprofundada investigação e respetivo levantamento. Este projeto consiste no estudo destas peças decorativas, das suas técnicas de fabrico, estilos artísticos, motivos iconográficos e tipologias, que permitirão uma inventariação e caracterização rigorosa das mesmas.
The National Palace of Ajuda, once Royal Residence and current Museum of Decorative Arts, presents a vast collection which affirms and highlights the splendor of Portuguese cultural heritage. Its windowpanes and stained glasses, heritage elements that integrate the building’s architectural structure, marks a fenomenal exemple of glass as ornamental art that lacks, however, a deep investigation and respective survey. This project consists of a study of this decorative pieces, its manufactering techniques, artistic styles, iconographic motifs and typologies, that will allow its inventory and rigorous characterization.
