Abstract(s)
e secundĂĄria do Porto.
Assim, a
Neste sentido, nasceu o projeto Promoção da Literacia Financeira, no qual me
The report From School to Society: development of citizenship skills through the teaching of Economics A embodies the research developed within the Supervised Teaching Practice, component of the Masterâs in Teaching Economics and Accounting, which was implemented in a basic and secondary school in Porto. The importance of developing transversal skills in citizens has been gaining prominence in contemporary societies, in order to improve their social integration. Similarly, also the specific skills of Financial Literacy tend to be increasingly valued in today's societies, for their unequivocal importance in many daily activities of citizens. Thus, the School has a leading role in this area by being a key institution in the training of student-citizens and in the development of the so-called skills for the 21st century, and the subject of Economics acquires a fundamental role in the development of these citizenship skills, particularly in certain components, due to the proximity of its syllabus to some themes. In this sense, the project Promotion of Financial Literacy was born, in which I proposed to contribute to the validation of a curricular option between the subjects of Economics A and Citizenship and Development, in order to promote the development of knowledge, skills and attitudes that converge with the skills that are intended to be intrinsic to citizens of the 21st century, particularly in the area of Financial Literacy, not forgetting the importance of the citizen's role in the community where he belongs, namely in micro terms, the school community itself. The results proved to be very positive, with the students directly involved evaluating the project, in global terms, as "Good" and "Very Good" and identifying several skills that they felt they had developed by being part of it. Cumulatively, the project proved to have a strong impact on the school itself, showing the possibility of replication in other contexts.
