The present study aims to investigate the moderator role of the three types of social support, as supervisor support, co-worker support and perceived organizational support (POS), in the relation between work overload and workers health and well-being. Data was collected in a sample of banking and insurance sector workers, from two Portuguese organizations, making a total of 676 answers. Although a direct and negative relation was found between work overload and workers health and well-being, the results reject the initially proposed hypothesis about social support’s moderator effect. However, a positive relation between social support and health and well-being was found. The results obtained make a contribute to the literature because they allow a better understanding about social support in organizations and its impact on workers’ health and well-being. This way, it’s possible to make strategies to promote positive outcomes on individuals, making them to produce more and better, and with more job satisfaction.
