The wai of gamble houses
Abstract(s)
estudo desenvolvido insere-se no Âmbito do tema “Casas para
um planeta pequeno” e pretende realizar uma análise ao processo
evolutivo da cidade de Macau, desde o seu aparecimento e regime
colonial até aos dias de hoje. Devido a estas permutações ao
longo dos anos é necessário compreender este território numa
realidade formal e informal, explorando a cidade num contexto
geral, passando da escala dos bairros, mais concretamente dos
Pátios e Becos à escala habitacional e social.
Com o exponencial crescimento populacional, as grandes
metrópoles têm de se reinventar para que os seus ocupantes
não sejam afetados. No caso da Região Administrativa Especial
de Macau (RAEM), a sua população triplicou, tendo 612 167
habitantes, o que fez com que a cidade, tivesse de se adaptar a
esta nova realidade para que a sua génese e povo não fossem
segregados.
Se nos focarmos na Zona do Porto Interior da cidade, mais
concretamente no Pátio (Wai) da Claridade, percebemos que se
trata de uma zona envelhecida, com população de classe social
baixa e com diversos problemas urbanísticos, arquitetónicos
e sociológicos. O principal objetivo desta reflexão é, através
da revitalização urbana, arquitetónica e social, respeitando os
costumes e tradições, propor soluções para que estes problemas
sejam abandonados ou minimizados. Pretende-se assim
promover novas urbanidades, de um ponto de vista sustentável,
de forma a recuperar alguns valores perdidos durante todas as
transformações e assentamentos da cidade. Como tal, procura-se
reavivar os Pátios e Becos que lhe são característicos, dando-lhes
uma nova génese e tornando-os catalisadores na zona do Porto
Interior, e na cidade de Macau.
ABSTRACT: The developed study belongs to the theme “Houses for a small planet” and intends to analyze the evolutive process of Macau, since it’s origin and colonial regime to nowadays. Do to all of the changes during the years it’s absolutely necessary to understand this territory in a formal and informal way, exploring the city in a general context, starting in a neighborhood scale, more specific patios and alleys, to a habitational and social scale. With the exponential populational growth, large metropolis have to reinvent themselves so that their habitants are not affected. In the case of Macau Special Administrative Region (SAR), their population tripled, having 612 167 habitants, which meant that the city had to adapt to this new reality to its genesis so that the people weren’t segregated. If we focus in in the zone of the Inner Harbor of the city, more concretely Pátio (Wai) da Claridade, we understand that is an old city with low-class population and multiple urbanistic, architectural and social problems. The main objective of this study is, through the urban, architectonic and social revitalization, respecting the costumes and traditions, propose solutions so that these problems are eliminated or minimized. This is intended to promote new urbanities from a sustainable point of view, intend in the recovery of some lost values during all the transformations and settlements that the city has been through. As such, it seeks to revive the Patios and the Alleys that are characteristic, giving them a new genesis and making them catalysts in the zone of the Inner Harbor, and in the city of Macao.
