Uma biblioteca académica que serve duas instituições (Faculdade de Psicologia e Instituto de Educação) da Universidade de Lisboa, tendo plena consciência dos benefícios da leitura e sua partilha, procurou ir mais além nos serviços prestados aos alunos, aos investigadores, aos docentes e inclusive aos não-docentes. Relatam-se as motivações, as condições de implementação e manutenção, os sucessos e os insucessos de manter um grupo de leitores numa biblioteca de ensino superior, sempre com a mesma certeza: reunir vozes em torno de uma leitura de fruição é, na academia, construir um espaço de encontro e diálogo onde se exercita o hábito de pensar e aprender fora do contexto técnico-instrumental, possibilitando a expressão, a cada um, das suas ideias e respeitando e valorizando as ideias dos outros.
