| dc.description.abstract | Este trabalho tem como objetivo investigar a representação feminina nos meios de comunicação de massa, entender a verossimilhança desta representação e se a imagem representada corrobora para a construção de estereótipos difundidos principalmente nas produções cinematográficas. Além disso, pretende apresentar um parâmetro sobre as tribos urbanas para compreender especificamente uma delas: os nerds. A pesquisa tenta identificar quem são os nerds, sua relação com o feminino e o impacto da saga Star Wars nesse universo. Para este estudo, utilizaremos como metodologias tanto uma revisão bibliográfica referente aos temas tratados quanto uma análise de conteúdo sobre as protagonistas femininas da franquia de filmes Star Wars. O título desse trabalho faz referência a uma fala da personagem Rey no episódio VII da saga. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | This work aims to investigate the female representation in the mass media, to observe the likelihood of the representation and if it corroborates the construction of stereotypes spread especially at cinematic productions. For this study, we will use as methodology both a bibliographic review referring to the subjects treated and a content analysis about the female protagonists of the Star Wars’ cinema saga. In the first chapter, this work aims to understand the construction of the idea of the female gender over time, linked to the ideals of Simone de Beauvoir, Judith Butler and the relationship with feminist waves. Then, it seeks to understand how female representation in the media, stereotypes and verisimilitude are based on the concepts of authors such as Kaplan (2012), Mulvey (1989) and Gubernikoff (2009). The second chapter will be dedicated to understanding the phenomenon of urban tribes – a term popularized by the work of Maffesoli (1998; 2007), also explored by Magnani (1992), Pais (2004) and Cova and Cova (2002) – and the concept of subculture – addressed by Hebdige (2002), Hall and Jeffeson (1987) and Thornton (1997). It also aims to understand whether women, as a specific group, can be considered a particular urban tribe. Furthermore, this research seeks to identify a particular tribe, the nerds, in order to understand its particularities, its tensions, its relationship with the female gender and the impact of the Star Wars saga in this universe. In the last chapter, the object of study will be the focus: the female representation in the Star Wars cinematic saga, focused on the three protagonists - Leia Organa, Padmé Amidala and Rey. To this end, the screen time of these characters will be examined through content analysis in quantitative and qualitative data, with the objective of presenting more elaborate and more accurate data about the presence of these characters in this narrative.
