No presente estudo,
explorar a similaridade inter-parental relativamente a tais variáveis. A amostra
o Parenting Sense of Competence Scale - PSOC, e o Strengths and Difficulties
Questionnaire - SDQ.
The exercise of parental role, for the responsibility and commitment it demands in relation to protection, education and care, is characterized by innumerable gratifications but also by strong challenges, being influenced by multiple individual (both from parents and children), parental, family and extra-family factors. In the present study, it was intended to analyze the relationship between variables commonly associated with the sense of parental competence - perception of efficacy and satisfaction -, parental dysfunctional attributions and the parents' perception of the psychological adjustment of the children, as well as to explore the inter-parental similarity regarding such variables. The sample comprised 96 participants, 48 being heterosexual couples, with at least one child aged between 6 and 12 years. Regarding the instruments, a Sociodemographic Questionnaire, the Parent Cognition Scale (PCS), the Parent Satisfaction and Expectation Assessment Questionnaire (QSPAE), the Parenting Sense of Competence Scale (PSOC), and the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) were used. The results showed: negative association between the sense of parental competence - perception of self-efficacy and parental satisfaction - and the psychological maladjustment of the children; association between dysfunctional attributions of mothers focusing on the responsibility of the children and problems of psychological adjustment in the children; in both mothers and fathers, negative association between dysfunctional parental attributions and sense of parental competence; the predictive effect of parental satisfaction of mothers and their dysfunctional attributions on the psychological adjustment of the children; the mediating effect of dysfunctional maternal attributions on the relationship between the satisfaction of mothers and the psychological adjustment of the children. Couples presented a similarity profile in terms of parental dysfunctional attributions, the perception of psychological adjustment of the children and parental satisfaction.
