O objetivo do presente Projeto Final de Mestrado prende-se na pesquisa, análise e aplicação do tema da habitação evolutiva e adaptável no contexto da casa unifamiliar, visando responder à crise habitacional atualmente sentida em Longyearbyen, esta que é a cidade localizada mais a norte permanentemente habitada pelo ser humano.
O estudo da temática da habitação evolutiva tem sido desenvolvido há décadas, sendo considerado um sistema construtivo de resposta no campo da habitação social.
No entanto, este é um sistema adaptável e é neste sentido que pretendemos encontrar uma solução habitacional com capacidade de responder a condições extremamente hostis impostas pelo território.
É desta forma que a pesquisa assenta em temas como a finisterra, as alterações climáticas, a habitação evolutiva, a construção em permafrost e espaço de transição, de modo a encontrar, na arquitetura, uma solução que responda a todas as problemáticas levantadas durante esta investigação.
Ambiciona-se, então, uma solução arquitetónica passível de transformação, adaptando-se a novos usos e exigências, que marque um papel de recolhimento e abrigo ao habitante, ao mesmo tempo que, devido à sua adaptabilidade, se torna uma solução habitacional a longo prazo.
The objective of this Master’s Final Project secures itself in the research, analysis and application of the theme of evolutionary and adaptable housing in the context of the single-family house, aiming to respond to the housing crisis currently felt in Longyearbyen, which is the northernmost town permanently inhabited by the human being. The study of the thematic of the evolutionary housing has been developed for decades, being considered a constructive system of response in the field of social housing. However, this is an adaptable system and it is in this sense that we intend to find a housing solution capable of responding to extremely hostile conditions imposed by the territory. This is how the research is settled on themes such as finisterre, climate change, evolutionary housing, construction in permafrost and transition space, in order to find, in architecture, a solution that responds to all the problematics raised during this investigation. We aspire, then, for an architectural solution capable of transformation, adapting itself to new uses and demands, which plays a role of retreat and shelter for the inhabitant, at the same time that, due to its adaptability, it becomes a long-term housing solution.
