Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a frequent diagnosis in children and adolescents and has been the target of several studies, although such studies tend to be mainly focused on its nosological, aetiological and medication aspects, including family and social factors. However, studies that illustrate the experiences and personal experiences of adolescents diagnosed with ADHD are markedly absent from the literature. Thus, the present qualitative exploratory study aims to collect information on meanings and nd attributions of a sample of eight adolescents diagnosed with ADHD (N = 8), regarding their health condition, family factors and clinical intervention. Data were collected through a semi-structured interview and analyzed using thematic analysis (Braun & Clarke, 2006), with the help of QSR NVivo11 software. Participants identified school, sports activities and friends as main factors associated with well-being perception. Participants also described medication and isolation as core coping strategies to deal with ADHD symptoms. From the analysis of the results, implications for clinical intervention and research emerged and are discussed, along the inherent limitations of the study and suggestions for further research.
