Perfectionism can influence the quality of life and well-being of children, adolescents and adults, with some authors considering it a public health issue, worth more attention and in need of an answer. Not only is it considered a risk factor for the development of multiple psychopathologies, as it also jeopardizes the quality of students learning. However, little is known about its development, only that by the time adolescence is reached it is already well established and that prevention it’s crucial, with school being the privileged environment to do so. This investigation, which adopted a cross-sectional design, focused on the transition between the first and second Portuguese school learning cycles, with the goal of understanding how students’ perfectionism and quality of life levels fluctuate in face of it. For this purpose, 114 students belonging to the fourth, fifth and sixth grade answered a questionnaire assessing perfectionism and one questionnaire assessing their quality of life. No significant differences were found between the three school years perfectionism levels, nor the existence of significant relationships between perfectionism levels and quality of life. On the other hand, a clear and alarming decline of quality of life levels was found, from fourth to sixth grade.
