As fraturas diafisárias do úmero são achados frequentes no adulto. O seu tratamento é na maioria conservador, no entanto ocorrem várias situações em que o tratamento cirúrgico é preconizado. Existem várias opções de implantes e de técnicas cirúrgicas que podem ser adotados, no entanto, nenhum dos implantes/técnicas apresenta consenso entre os vários autores. Este trabalho pretende realizar uma revisão da literatura sobre as fraturas diafisárias do úmero e as suas opções terapêuticas. Pretende, também, através da análise de casos clínicos do Serviço de Ortopedia do Hospital de Santa Maria, comparar dois implantes cirúrgicos utilizados para correção de fraturas diafisárias do úmero: Cavilhas bloqueadas e Placas.
The humeral shaft fractures are frequently found in adults. The treatment of this type of fractures is mostly conservative, however, there are several cases in which surgical treatment is recommended. There are multiple options of implants and surgical techniques that can be use in the treatment, however there are divergent opinions among the different authors about the use of then. The aim of this work is the revision of the literature about the humeral shaft fractures and their therapeutically options. Also, by using the analysis of clinical cases from orthopedics department of Santa Maria Hospital, this work pretend to make the comparison between two types of surgical implants used for treatment of humeral shaft fractures: interlocking nails and plates.
