Abstract(s)
No contexto da arquitectura e urbanismo coloniais Portugueses, no período temporal
arquitectura.
ABSTRACT: In the context of the Portuguese colonial architecture and urban planning, during the period from 1920 to 1974, specific expressions of the Angolan territory occupation can be identified through an interpretation and adaptation of a cultural nature and relation to the site. The spatial reflection of the colonial ideological speech is broached as regards the several types of occupation of the Angolan territory, as well as the European and Portuguese urbanism theories and their translation into the Angolan urban planning practice. The study/analysis of architecture plans and blueprints of that period, as well as their authors, their influences and types of commissions, leads us to understand the way in which the European concepts were adapted to Angola, where all the architecture and urban planning currents of thought found a parallel and fruitful ground, enhanced by the "Angolan character", and creating an Angolan tropical architecture and urban planning with a Portuguese expression. Although a colony, and dependent from the tutelary structure of the Portuguese state, Angola never ceased to have its own identity, clearly expressed in its urban planning and architecture.
