The subject of the research is the difference between upcycling and regular design, carried out at Josefina Studio Berlin and Der Stacheldraht. The fashion industry is one of the most dynamic and influential in the world, impacting not only the global economy, but also the environment and society. In recent years, sustainable practices such as upcycling clothing have come to the fore as alternatives to regular design, which is often criticised for its negative environmental impact and excessive consumption of natural resources. This study investigates the differences between upcycling clothes and regular design, focusing on practical aspects, impacts and consumer perceptions. In order to fulfil these objectives, it was necessary to study the existing literature, as well as carry out tests, i.e. make prototypes, do trial and error analyses, collect opinions from people in Portugal and Germany, among others. My research was carried out exploring the different types of upcycling during my internship at Josefina Studio Berlin and my internship at Der Stacheldraht.
