A “Autorregulação Emocional” parece
Mindful Parenting is a form of parenting that applies the principles of mindfulness, assuming a set of parenting practices in which parents adopt a posture of compassion and non-judgmental acceptance of their children and themselves as parents, seeking to be aware and fully present when interacting with children. This study aims to contribute to a better understanding of Mindful Parenting through the study of parental variables (quality of relationships, attachment style and parental motivation) with which it may be associated in the psychological adjustment of children. The sample consisted of 274 fathers and mothers of children aged between 4 and 16 years, and the variables were evaluated by online questionnaires. Significant relationships are observed between the dimensions of parenting and the style of attachment with parents and partner, the latter having the most robust effects. As expected, more autonomous forms of Motivation correlate positively with Mindful Parenting, while more externally controlled forms negatively correlate with this variable. “Emotional Self-Regulation” seems to be the aspect of Conscious Parenting with a broader impact on child adjustment problems. “Reflection on Parental Decision Making” seems to have a special effect on Child Internalization Problems, and “Child Acceptance of Independence” on Adolescent Behavior Problems. The fact that children and adolescents from the general community are studied is presented as a strong point of this study. However, some limitations should be noted at the methodological level (e.g., use of self-report instruments; cross-sectional study). Despite the limitations, the present study is expected to be a contribution in the area of Mindful Parenting, helping to make this important area increasingly understood and enriched.
