This investigation aims to characterize and analyse the insertion strategies of young immigrants from the PALOP into the labour market and understand the main challenges that these young people face in accessing the labour market. To develop this work, a qualitative study was chosen, which included the application of semi-structured interviews to qualified informants and the technique of a discussion group (focus group) with the group of young Guinean and Cape Verdean immigrants that constitute our sample. Then, the data collected was processed. The conclusions showed that the main factors that hinder the integration of the young people studied in the Portuguese labour market are the difficulty in obtaining documentation, followed by the low level of education and serious difficulties in mastering the Portuguese language. Another of the main reasons for these immigrants' difficulty in entering the labour market has to do with the investment that the market requires to better integrate. The results also indicate that young Cape Verdean immigrants feel more comfortable in the Portuguese labour market compared to young Guinean immigrants.
