O português língua de acolhimento e o desenvolvimento de competência intercultural por imigrantes chineses em Portugal

À medida que a globalização se desenvolve gradualmente no mundo e a migração de um país para outro se intensifica, tem aumentado a diversidade linguística e cultural, surgindo novos desafios para a humanidade, como discriminação, exclusão, conflitos culturais, desigualdade socioeconómica, etc. Em consequência, esta dissertação visa salientar a importância da competência intercultural e estudar o papel de Português Língua de Acolhimento, programa do ensino-aprendizagem da língua portuguesa promovido pelo Estado Português em 2020, dando continuidade às políticas de integração dos imigrantes no país de acolhimento e, concretamente, da sua formação linguística e cultural.
Partindo da introdução em relação aos programas da língua portuguesa estabelecidos em Portugal, destinados aos indivíduos não nativos e da fundamentação teórica acerca da competência intercultural, incluindo sua definição, componentes e modelos, assim como realizando questionário entre vinte imigrantes chineses, esta dissertação estuda o seu desenvolvimento da competência intercultural por meio de atitude, conhecimento, aptidão e consciência (Byram 1997, Fantini 2007) e analisa a sua participação nos cursos de Português Língua de Acolhimento, de modo a discutir as intervenções de melhorar a integração dos imigrantes no país de acolhimento.
Aplicando a metodologia mista, o trabalho avalia com dados estatísticos em que medida é que a competência intercultural do público-alvo melhorou no final dos cursos. Faz-se a análise das suas narrativas sobre as experiências ao frequentar os cursos, concluindo-se que existiram benefícios no desenvolvimento da competência intercultural e na integração cultural e social.
Em suma, o estudo pretende avaliar o impacto e divulgar o programa de Português Língua de Acolhimento junto do seu público-alvo, expandindo a sua influência e lançando apelos aos esforços seja dos imigrantes seja do governo pelo desenvolvimento da competência intercultural e pelo acolhimento de todos no contexto de migração.
As globalization gradually develops in the world and migration from one country to another intensifies, linguistic and cultural diversity has increased, creating new challenges for humanity, such as discrimination, exclusion, cultural conflicts, socioeconomic inequality, etc. Consequently, this dissertation aims to highlight the importance of intercultural competence and study the role of Portuguese as a Host Language, a Portuguese language teaching-learning program promoted by the Portuguese State in 2020, continuing the integration policies of immigrants in the host country and, specifically, their linguistic and cultural background. Starting from the introduction to Portuguese language programs established in Portugal, aimed at non-native individuals and the theoretical foundation regarding intercultural competence, including its definition, components and models, as well as carrying out a questionnaire among twenty Chinese immigrants, this study focuses on researching their development of intercultural competence through attitude, knowledge, aptitude and awareness (Byram 1997, Fantini 2007) and in analyzing their participation in Portuguese as a Host Language courses, in order to discuss interventions to improve the integration of immigrants in the host country. Applying the mixed methodology, the work evaluates with statistical data to what extent the intercultural competence of the target audience improved at the end of the courses. Their narratives about their experiences when attending the courses were analyzed, concluding that there were benefits in the development of intercultural competence and cultural and social integration. In conclusion, the study aims to evaluate the impact and disseminate the Portuguese as a Host Language program among its target audience, expanding its influence and launching appeals for the efforts of both immigrants and the government to develop intercultural competence and welcome everyone into the migration context.
