O material Information, Education, Communication (IEC) faz parte do Marketing Social em Saúde, que é, cada vez, mais utilizado em campanhas e programas de Educação para a Saúde. O objectivo é informar, educar e comunicar com determinados públicos-alvo, utilizando materiais que vão ao encontro das suas necessidades, desejos e dificuldades. No presente trabalho investigámos a percepção dos jovens africanos e luso-africanos (14-30 anos) face aos materiais IEC utilizados nas campanhas contra as infecções sexualmente transmitidas (IST) no Bairro Quinta da Fonte (Apelação).
Concluiu-se que a percepção dos jovens face aos materiais IEC é positiva, contudo, é necessário defini-los com base numa estratégia de comunicação assente nos princípios do Marketing Social em Saúde e da Teoria Behave Framework.
Para realizarmos este trabalho contámos com a ajuda da ONG Médicos do Mundo que, no Bairro Quinta da Fonte (Apelação) tem o projecto “Saude Pa nos Bairro”.

The objective of these actions is to inform, to educate, and to communicate with youngsters, using materials according to their needs, preferences and difficulties. The perception of the African and Luso-African individuals, from 14 to 30 years of age, was investigated, regarding IEC materials, which were used on campaigns against sexual transmitted infections at the Bairro Quinta da Fonte (Apelação). It was possible to conclude that the perception of these individuals regarding the IEC materials is positive, which suggest that this approach may be the best in Education for Health. However, the creation of this kind of materials must be based in the principles of Health Social Marketing and Behave Framework Theory. Through this project, we had the support of the NGO “Médicos do Mundo”, that hold the project “Saude Pa nos Bairro” at the Bairro Quinta da Fonte.
