O trabalho que se apresenta constitui, a base teórica que sustenta e justifica o Projeto Final de Mestrado, que consiste numa reflexão crítica sobre a frente ribeirinha compreendida entre a Estação de Santa Apolónia e Xabregas em Lisboa.
Esta frente ribeirinha foi sujeita a inúmeras transformações pelo homem através da construção de aterros, que modificaram e contribuíram para a relação atual entre a cidade e o rio. Atualmente testemunhamos um território ribeirinho (des) caracterizado, que manifesta uma carência de espaços públicos qualificados e uma fraca acessibilidade e circulação pedonal, resultando na sua desconexão coma malha confinante. Torna-se assim importante recuperá-los e devolver o caráter público ao lugar, recorrendo ao espaço público como a componente capaz de agregar os vários elementos urbanos, determinantes para a qualificação da pré-existência edificada e de percursos transversais, prologando-os da Cidade ao Rio.
Surge, no decorrer deste projeto, uma nova frente sobreposta à antiga linha de margem, que interage com os percursos ribeirinhos consequentes da proposta do espaço público e da implantação de um edifício singular junto à atual margem. A requalificação desta frente ribeirinha pretende recompor um espaço “habitável” em tempos protagonizado entre a cidade e o Tejo.
ABSTRACT: This work represents the theoretical basis that supports and justifies the Master Final Project, consisting of a critical reflection on the waterfront between Estação de Santa Apolónia and Xabregas in Lisbon. This site once had riverside characteristics, which were subjected to numerous transformations by the Man such as the construction of landfills that contributed to and modified the current relationship between the city and the river. Nowadays we witness a de-identified territory which manifests a lack of qualified public spaces, poor accessibility and pedestrian circulation, resulting in its disconnection from its confining mesh. Therefore it is important to recover the space and regain its character, making use of the public space as the link between various urban elements crucial for the qualification of the pre-existent buildings and paths, in order to reconnect with the river. In the course of this project a new front arises and interacts with the riverside paths resultant from the proposal of the public space and the implantation of a singular building next to the current margin. The requalification of this riverside front aims to restore an “inhabitable” space between the city and Tejo.
