| dc.description.abstract | O abuso sexual na infância representa uma experiência traumática que detém múltiplos e diversos efeitos a nível individual e consequentemente nas relações interpessoais na vida adulta. Apesar do aumento da consciência sobre o abuso sexual, os estudos nesta área em concreto especificamente em homens são menores do que em mulheres. As investigações em homens têm se focado nas consequências que advêm dos abusos sexuais, principalmente a nível clínico, alguns na conjugalidade e poucos na parentalidade. Por isso, o presente estudo procura compreender a vivência das relações interpessoais na vida adulta, ou seja, como se relacionam com o sistema familiar, social, conjugal e na parentalidade. Igualmente, pretendese compreender a perceção do impacto de homens sobreviventes de abuso sexual nos relacionamentos interpessoais. Para alcançar os objetivos previamente mencionados, recorreu-se a entrevistas semiestruturadas, com três pessoas, maiores de 18 anos, um sobrevivente de abuso sexual e dois psicoterapeutas. Os dados foram analisados através do software Nvivo 12 e procedeu-se à análise temática. Os resultados do presente estudo qualitativo mostram que existem vários efeitos a nível individual como o desenvolvimento de crenças sobre o abuso sexual (p.e., culpa, abandono e defeito), desenvolvimento do self (p.e., insegurança, autoestima), esteriótipos de género masculinos (p.e., estigma da homossexualidade), trauma (p.e., perturbação do stress pós-traumático) e na sexualidade (p.e., insegurança sexual e disfunção erétil). Adicionalmente, identificaram-se padrões relacionais (p.e., distante, passivo, destrutivo, proximidade e redentor) em diversos contextos. Alguns dos resultados confirmam descobertas de outros autores sobre a perceção do impacto dos abusos sexuais e sublinham áreas para investigação futura e prática clínica. Foram identificadas algumas limitações como a pouca quantidade e heterogeneidade da amostra. Adicionalmente, identificou-se a necessidade de desenvolver estudos sobre a prevalência do abuso sexual em homens na população portuguesa, compreender as experiências na divulgação dos abusos sexuais e continuar a investigação na área da parentalidade. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) represents a traumatic experience that has a profound effect at an individual level and consequently in the interpersonal relationships during adulthood. Despite the increased awareness in the past several years, there is still significantly greater amount of studies investigating women when compared to those investigating men. Research in CSA in males have been focusing in the long-term consequences of the sexual abuse, especially in the clinical field, some in romantic relationships and few in fatherhood. For that reason, the current study aims to understand social, familiar, marital and parental relationships in adulthood. Likewise, aims to understand the perception of the impact of the sexual abuse into interpersonal relationships. To achieve these goals, semiestrutured interviews were conducted with three participants, consisting of one CSA survivor and two therapists. The qualitative methodologies of thematic analysis were used to examine data with the help of of Nvivo 12 software. Results suggested several long-term effects that were perceived as a consequence of sexual abuse, such as beliefs (p.e., shame, guilt, mistrusted and abandonment), the development of the self (p.e., self-esteem, insecurity), male gender stereotypes (p.e., stigma of homosexuality), trauma (p.e., pos-traumatic stress disorder) and sexuality (erectile dysfunction and sexual insecurity). Furthermore, relationship patterns (p.e., distant, passive, destructive, closeness and redeemer) were identified across several contexts. Some of these findings resonate with broaderer research on the perception of the impact of sexual abuse in males and highlight areas for future research and clinical practice. There were identified some limitations such as small and heterogenous sample. Addicionally, this research acknowledged some key gaps: a need for futher investigation in the prevalence of CSA in males in the portuguese population, the need for deeper understanding of the process of disclousure in survirors and continue research on fatherhood. | pt_PT |
