Sintra é uma vila com características arquitetónicas e urbanas de grande beleza e especificidade, indissociáveis de um imaginário muito rico e místico com vestígios da ocupação humana desde há milhares de anos.
Sendo um território tão heterogéneo nos seus tecidos urbano e rural, com uma relação muito próxima a Lisboa, e inserida numa Serra que é Parque Natural, existem condições favoráveis à promoção de habitação jovem nesta Vila, contribuindo assim para que a vida na cidade se desenvolva não só através do turismo, como também de população residente.
O tema da habitação é alvo de estudo e preocupação desde há décadas, assim este Trabalho Final de Mestrado vem propor uma solução arquitetónica que por um lado, responda ao tema da falta de habitação para os jovens em Sintra, e por outro expõe uma abordagem à reabilitação urbana e arquitetónica de edifícios devolutos nos centros históricos, neste caso em S. Pedro de Penaferrim.
Procura-se abordar temas como as políticas públicas de habitação em Portugal, reabilitação urbana e estudar as tipologias habitacionais, dando ênfase à flexibilidade dos espaços da casa.
Sintra is a village with architectural and urban characteristics of great beauty and specificity, inseparable from a very rich and mystical imaginary with traces of human occupation for thousands of years. Being such a heterogeneous territory in its urban and rural fabrics, with a relationship very close to Lisbon, and inserted in a Mountain that is Natural Park, there are favorable conditions for the promotion of young housing in this village, therefore contributing to its development through the fixation of new residents The theme of housing has been the subject of study and concern for decades. This work proposes an architectural approach that answers the lack of housing for young people in Sintra, and also seeks to improve the architectural tradition and culture of such village through the rehabilitation of unoccupied buildings of its historic center, in this case in S. Pedro de Penaferrim. It aims to address issues such as public housing policies in Portugal, urban rehabilitation, and also to study housing typologies that emphasize the flexibility of the spaces of the house and their usage.
