Este trabalho propõe perceber qual a influência que o livro informativo "Uma Jornada Através
do Tempo" (JAT) pode ter na promoção da literacia científica das crianças, assim como
caracterizá-lo no contexto dos livros infantis com temática de ciências recomendados pelo
Plano Nacional de Leitura 2027 de Portugal.
A narrativa do livro JAT segue a ordem cronológica dos acontecimentos que levaram à criação
do mundo em que hoje vivemos - o surgimento do universo, a evolução da vida, do ser
humano, a produção de cultura e o progresso da ciência e da tecnologia. A história é o fio
condutor dos diversos conteúdos abordados, e a proposta do livro é que auxilie na organização
e na construção do conhecimento científico do leitor. O livro é de autoria própria (Hannah Lua)
e teve a consultoria científica de vários professores da Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade
de Lisboa.
A investigação deste trabalho foi composta por duas partes: um estudo de caso e um estudo de
levantamento. O primeiro contempla a análise do livro JAT, realizada com alunos e professores
de uma escola em Portugal. A recolha de dados foi feita por meio de questionários e a análise
dos dados foi de caráter descritivo. No estudo de levantamento foi realizada uma análise
estatística dos livros de ciência recomendados pelo PNL 2027 para faixa etária dos 6-8 anos,
publicados entre 2017 e o primeiro semestre de 2021, e a caracterização do livro JAT neste
contexto. A realização deste estudo previamente à publicação do livro tem como objetivo
possibilitar que sejam realizados ajustes na obra a partir do resultado da análise dos dados da
investigação.
Os resultados do estudo de caso mostram que a parte preferida do livro é parte dos
dinossauros, e as maiores aprendizagens foram referentes às concepções: o primeiro ser vivo
foi um microrganismo; os dinossauros não foram os primeiros seres vivos e os primeiros
animais eram aquáticos. Entretanto, as partes com menor aprendizagem foram: Idade e
Formação do Universo. Na opinião dos professores o livro tem potencial de utilização no ensino
de Estudos do Meio.
Os resultados do estudo de levantamento, mostram que quase a metade dos livros
recomendados pelo PNL 2027, até ao 1º semestre de 2022, é indicado para a faixa etária dos
6-8 anos, sendo esta a idade com maior número de livros recomendados desta temática. Na
amostra deste estudo (121 livros) foram identificados três livros que, assim como o livro JAT,
abrangem tanto o assunto Big Bang quanto a Evolução.
The purpose of this work is to understand the influence that the trade book "Uma Jornada Através do Tempo"1 (JAT) may have in the promotion of children's scientific literacy, as well as to characterize it in the context of children's science trade books recommended by the PNL2027 from Portugal. The narrative of the JAT book follows the chronological order of the events that led to the creation of the world we live in today - the emergence of the universe, the evolution of life, of the human being, the production of culture and the progress of science and technology. History is the guiding thread of the various contents covered, and the purpose of the book is to help in the organization and construction of the reader's scientific knowledge. The book was writen by me (Hannah Lua) and was reviewed by several specialists from Faculdade de Ciências of Universidade de Lisboa. The investigation of presented in this work consists of two parts: a case study and a survey study. The first includes the analysis of the book JAT, carried out with students and teachers from a school in Portugal. Data collection was done through questionnaires and data analysis was descriptive. In the survey study, a statistical analysis was made of the science books recommended by the PNL 2027 for the age group of 6-8 years, published between 2017 and the first half of 202. Conducting this study prior to the publication of the book aims to enable adjustments to be made in the work based on the result of the analysis of the research data. The results of the case study show that the favorite part of the book is the part of the dinosaurs, and that what the children learned the most was: the first living being was a microorganism; dinosaurs were not the first living beings and the first animals were aquatic. However, the parts with the least understanding were: age and formation of the Universe. In the teachers' opinion, the book has potential to be used in the teaching of science. The results of the survey study show that almost half of the books recommended by PNL 2027, until the 1st semester of 2022, are indicated for the age group of 6-8 years, which is the age with the highest number of recommended books on this subject.
