Abstract(s)
Os centros históricos e a sua evolução têm motivado uma discussão e reflexão quanto à sua condição de áreas de referência vividas nas cidades. Esta é uma problemática que não é nova, mas que continua na ordem do dia. A degradação e a desqualificação do edificado e do espaço público dos centros históricos, nomeadamente o de Santarém, objeto de estudo deste trabalho, foi influenciado pela perda de população, com a saída para as áreas periféricas, levando ao seu envelhecimento, social e material. Assim, torna-se hoje premente ideias, propostas e ações para a sua reabilitação e requalificação, tendo em conta o seu rico valor cultural e patrimonial, preservando a memória e identidade desses locais. Nesse sentido, o tema “Reabilitação do Antigo Teatro Rosa Damasceno, Santarém, como estratégia de Transformação Urbana” pretende atuar sobre a revitalização do centro histórico de Santarém, tendo como pressuposto a apresentação de uma estratégia de promoção da cidade tendo como alcance uma possível candidatura a Capital Europeia da Cultura. Nesse sentido procurou-se, neste trabalho, uma estratégia com todo o património cultural do centro histórico, contribuindo para o desenvolvimento económico, social e cultural da cidade. Para a resolução dos problemas encontrados ao longo do eixo de intervenção, através da requalificação e a reabilitação dos espaços, procurou-se melhorar a imagem do centro histórico, valorizando e preservando o património existente, contribuindo para a memória e identidade do local. A reabilitação do Teatro Rosa Damasceno é o elemento focal para as propostas de intervenção, que em conjunto, procuram contribuir para uma revitalização e dinamização do centro histórico de Santarém.
ABSTRACT: Historical centers and their evolution have been motivating a discussion and reflection regarding their condition as reference areas experienced in the cities. This problem is not new, but it remains on the agenda. The degradation and disqualification of buildings and the public space of historic centers, namely Santarém, the object of study in this work, was influenced by the loss of population, with the departure to the outlying areas, leading to its aging, both socially and materially. Thus today, ideas, proposals and actions for its rehabilitation and requalification are urgently needed, considering its rich cultural and heritage value, preserving the memory and local identity. In this sense, the theme “Rehabilitation of the Old Theater Rosa Damasceno, Santarém, as a strategy for Urban Transformation” aims to act on the revitalization of the historic center of Santarém, with the premise of presenting a strategy to promote the city with the potential of reaching a possible candidacy as the European Capital of Culture. Accordingly, we sought, in this work, a strategy with all the cultural heritage of the historic center, contributing to the economic, social and cultural development of the city. In order to solve the problems found along the intervention axis, through the requalification and the rehabilitation of spaces, we attempted to improve the image of the historic center, valuing and preserving the existing heritage, contributing to the memory and identity of the place. The rehabilitation of Rosa Damasceno Theater is the focal point for the intervention proposals, which together aims to contribute to a revitalization and dynamization of the historic center of Santarém.
