Strategic planning in a non-profit organization : a stakeholder approach : the case of Gira Bike sharing system

| dc.description.abstract | There are limited studies for bike-sharing systems (BSS) around the world. Research on bike sharing systems may face limitations in terms of data quality, geographical variability, and the variety of user samples. Additionally, the long-term sustainability and broader social impacts of these systems may require more exploration. This study walks through, step by step, the development of a strategic planning for the expansion of a BSS. The present work has the goal of understanding the context and then developing and analyzing a Strategic Plan for a Lisbon BSS supported in a non-profit organization. This work covers strategy concepts such as Strategic Planning, different types of organizations, for-profit, governmental, and non-profit organizations. The work also covers the combination of strategy with the type of organization, Strategic Plan for non-profit organization that is controlled by the local government. It also covers a definition of the bike-sharing concept, its evolution, models of provision, the impacts, and the financial models. The objective of this framework is to provide a guiding template for organizations that own and manage Bike Sharing Systems (BSS), focusing on how they should strategize their expansion. This is to ensure that the organization's objectives are in harmony with the needs and expectations of the citizens. This work will devise a Strategic Plan for Lisbon's bike-sharing initiative, aimed at extending its reach across the entire city. This plan is intended to synchronize the ambitions of the organization with the requirements and interests of all stakeholders involved. The methodology used in this dissertation was based on extensive research on the elaboration of strategic plans for non-profit organizations. The dissertation approaches all the steps in a strategic planning for a non-profit organization, defining the vision the mission and goals of the organization, its position by analyzing internal and external factors, devising strategies and implementation plans and the review of the planning. This Masters Final Work (MFW) seeks to make a meaningful contribution to the research on BSS and the formulation of stakeholder-inclusive strategies for defining middle and long-term goals. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | Existem estudos limitados sobre sistemas de bicicletas partilhadas em todo o mundo, geralmente tendem a concentrar-se nos sistemas de bicicletas partilhadas de um país ou em um assunto específico. Este estudo guia passo a passo o desenvolvimento de um planeamento estratégico para a expansão de um sistema de bicicletas partilhadas. O presente trabalho tem como objetivo compreender, desenvolver e analisar um Planeamento Estratégico para um Sistema de Bicicletas Partilhadas em Lisboa, num modelo de Organização sem Fins Lucrativos. Este trabalho abrange tipos de planeamento estratégico, bem como as diferentes orientações de empresas, incluindo organizações com fins lucrativos, governamentais e sem fins lucrativos. Também aborda a combinação do tipo de estratégia com a orientação da organização, Planeamento Estratégico para Organizações sem Fins Lucrativos. Inclui uma definição de sistema de bicicletas partilhadas, a sua evolução, modelos de provisão, os impactos e os modelos financeiros. O objetivo deste trabalho é fornecer um modelo orientador para organizações que possuem e gerem Sistemas de Bicicletas Partilhadas (BSS), concentrando-se em como devem estruturar a sua expansão. Isto para garantir que os objetivos da organização estejam em harmonia com as necessidades e expectativas dos cidadãos. O principal objetivo deste trabalho é desenvolver um Plano Estratégico para a iniciativa de bicicletas partilhadas de Lisboa, com o intuito de expandir o seu alcance por toda a cidade. Este plano tem a intenção de conciliar as ambições da organização com os requisitos e interesses de todos os stakeholders envolvidos. A metodologia utilizada nesta dissertação baseou-se em extensa pesquisa sobre a elaboração de planeamento estratégico para organizações sem fins lucrativos. A dissertação aborda todos os passos de um planeamento estratégico para uma organização sem fins lucrativos, definindo a visão, a missão e os objetivos da empresa, a sua posição através da análise de fatores internos e externos, a definição de objetivos, a definição do curso de ação e implementação e a revisão do planeamento. | pt_PT |
