Resumo(s)
This paper has as main objectives a detailed study of Tapada da Ajuda, in terms of biophysical characterization and its historical evolution, to develop a plan for a system of pathways and views that articulates the various spaces within the Tapada and the most privileged views.
To achieve the final goal, it was adopted a methodology that begins with an intense research of the parameters and major events that contribute to the Tapada’s development process up to nowadays, followed by the study based on the concepts of pathways, perception, image, analysis and visual quality, and, finally, the Heritage and its regulatory instruments are discussed.
For its privileged situation on the Serra de Monsanto’s South side that provides an exceptional view over the Tagus River, the Tapada da Ajuda contains a huge potential thatshould be recognized and exploited, not only for its awesome landscapes, but also for its social, historical and cultural values.
The plan/proposal is focalized in the space’s organization, through developing pathways that allow recognizing the Tapada da Ajuda’s inherent values, not dismissing the necessary measures for management and maintenance of all components, mainly the vegetation.
