| dc.description.abstract | Um arquipélago composto por duas ilhas e ilhéus que formam um país, a ilha de São Tomé e a ilha do Príncipe. Transmitem-nos singularidades físicas únicas que acabam por se traduzir numa cultura inigualável em África. A ilha do Príncipe, a cidade de Santo António e as roças que nela existem, têm uma história com diferentes ciclos de crescimento e alguns períodos de inércia, onde a arquitetura colonial e a arquitetura vernacular abraçam-se e constroem os espaços, onde estes são abrangidos por uma imensidão de estrutura verde “Obô”, caracterizando assim esta pequena ilha localizada no meio do oceano. Com uma vista única e uma paisagem endémica, o Boné de Jockey é uma das maiores atrações deste lugar singular pousado num vale, sendo a roça Terreiro Velho o lugar escolhido para desenvolver este projeto final de mestrado. Deste modo, numa fase inicial faz-se uma análise detalhada da ilha do Príncipe e da Roça Terreiro Velho, tendo em conta toda a sua informação sobre a componente urbana, cultural e social para uma melhor compreensão no que diz respeito ao panorama atual socioeconómico, costumes e modo de vida da população. Complementou-se esta análise com uma visita à ilha onde ajudou a clarificar as vivências nela praticada e a necessidade de criar um espaço arquitetónico, em equipamento singular que não só possa ajudar a ilha no seu crescimento, tanto economicamente, social e físico como também seja um novo local de “lazer” e encontro para os habitantes da ilha. Sendo assim, surge uma Fábrica e Museu de chocolate na ilha do Príncipe. Este novo equipamento aparece num local estratégico da roça Terreiro Velho onde a vista sobre o mar e a plantação de cacau ali existente, são os pontos mais significativos. Este novo equipamento tem um destaque pois afirma-se como um papel de referência a nível urbano e social na ilha. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | An archipelago made up of two islands and islets that form a country, the São Tomé island and the Príncipe island. They transmit to us unique physical singularities that end up translating into an unparalleled culture in Africa. The island of principe, the city of Santo Antonio and the farms that exist there, have a history with different cycles of growth and some periods of inertia, where colonial architecture and vernacular architecture embrace each other and build spaces, where these are covered by an immensity of green “obô” structure, thus characterising this small island located in the middle of the ocean. With a unique view and an endemic landscape, the Jockey’s cap is one of the biggest attractions of this unique place nestled in a valley, with the Terreiro Velho being the place chosen to develop this final master’s project. In this case, at an initial stage, a detailed analysis of the island of Principe and Terreiro Velho countryside is carried out, taking into account all its information on the urban, cultural and social component for a better understanding with regard to the current socio-economic panorama, customs and way of life of the population. This analysis was complemented with a visit to the island where it helped to clarify the experiences practiced there and the need to create an architectural space, in unique equipment that can not only help the island in its growth, both economically, socially and physically, but also be a new “leisure” and meeting place for the island’s inhabitants. Therefore, a chocolate factory and museum appears on the island of principe. This new equipment appears in a strategic location in Terreiro Velho countryside where the view of the sea and the cocoa plantation there are the most significant points. This new equipment stands out as it plays role of reference at an urban and social level on the Island. | pt_PT |
