Nesta dissertação é feito um estudo sobre o IDE em Cabo Verde, com o objectivo de caracterizar, verificar a dinâmica e identificar os determinantes do IDE em Cabo Verde. Para um pequeno país insular de fracos recursos naturais, como é o caso de Cabo Verde, o IDE poderá constituir um importante meio de desenvolvimento económico através de inputs de capital, tecnologia e know-how.
Apesar das limitações próprias de uma pequena economia insular, Cabo Verde tem apresentado uma evolução bastante significativa nos fluxos de entrada do IDE a partir de 1995, devido, essencialmente, à alteração nas opções de política de desenvolvimento no sentido da liberalização económica. O IDE tem contribuído bastante para o incremento do PIB, da FBCF e para a criação de postos de trabalho.
Através do inquérito aos investidores estrangeiros, foi possível verificar que a estabilidade económica e socio-política, as características potenciais de mão-de-obra, e as oportunidades de negócio no mercado interno foram os factores que determinaram o processo de escolha de Cabo Verde como destino do investimento.
In this dissertation, it is done a study about the FDI in Cape Verde, with the aiming of characterize, verify the dynamic and identify the determinants of FDI in Cape Verde. For a small insular country, as Cape Verde, FDI may be an important mean of economic development by inputs of capital, technology and know-how. Instead of the limitations of a small insular country, Cape Verde has presented a very significant evolution of FDI inflows since 1995, due to the changes in the options of development policies in direction to economic liberalization. The FDI has greatly contributed to the increase of the GDP, gross capital formation and for the creation of jobs. Through the realization of an inquiry to foreign investors, it was possible to verify that the political and socio-economic stability, the potentials characteristic of the man power and the opportunity of business in the domestic market were the main determinants of FDI in Cape Verde.
