Em 2019, o projecto “Vila Nova de São Pedro, de novo no 3º milénio – VNSP3000”, deu continuidade às campanhas de escavação em Vila Nova de São Pedro, retomadas em 2017 e 2018.
Esta intervenção consistiu em quatros acções de distinta natureza: limpeza por meios manuais e mecânicos de novas áreas (na procura de possíveis futuros espaços de escavação arqueológica); manutenção das áreas onde se encontram estruturas associadas à fortificação; continuação da escavação manual das sondagens 1 da Área 1 e 3; início da escavação das sondagens 2 e 3 da Área 3; registo fotográfico, gráfico e topográfico de todas as realidades intervencionadas.
O alargamento da Sondagem 1 da Área 1, bem como a escavação da Sondagem 1 da Área 3 permitiram a identificação de níveis arqueológicos preservados, integrados no Calcolítico, numa leitura confirmada pelos materiais arqueológicos recolhidos e pelas datações absolutas obtidas.
In 2019, the research project “Vila Nova de São Pedro, again in the 3rd millennium – VNSP3000”, carried out another archaeological fieldwork campaign, following the 2017 and 2018 campaigns. This campaign consisted of four different actions: manual and mechanical clearing of new areas (in search for possible future areas for archaeological excavation); conservation of all areas where structures associated with the fortification were located; continuation of the excavation of the test pits number 1 from Zone 1 and 3; excavation of two test pits in a new area; record of all archaeological and non-archaeological identified during the fieldwork. The expansion of test pit 1 of Zone 1, as well as the excavation of test pit 1 of Zone 3, allowed the identification of preserved archaeological levels, atributed to the Chalcolithic period, confirmed by the collected archaeological artifacts and the radiocarbon dates.
