Abstract(s)
The university public of Portuguese in China begins to learn Portuguese in a context of formal education, in courses taught by non-native teachers. In this teaching-learning process, the manual is essential because it is a link between teachers and students. In addition, the manual should be prepared according to principles of coherent teaching and learning to approach the possible needs, difficulties and specificities of the public. As it was concluded at the Conference on Portuguese Language Internationalization Policy and Practices (2009), the specific materials and the articulation between Portuguese language teaching and the students' native language are still insufficient. As such, from this need to create the material suitable for the university public of China came the textbook that we propose to analyze: Portuguese for University Teaching (Da Xue Pu Tao Ya Yu). In this sense, the present work intends to reflect on the proposals and its application of the textbooks construction for this target public in Chinese universities. It will also be considered the theoretical framework of analysis parameters of foreign languages textbooks in general, and those of Portuguese as a foreign language (PFL). It is also proposed the comparison between the Portuguese for University Teaching used in the Inland of China, with the same public, in particular, some textbooks published in Portugal. Portuguese for University Teaching is a textbook of Portuguese as foreign language used in some universities as main textbook or sometimes as auxiliary material. The textbooks published in Portugal are used in many Chinese universities and have been a model for the PFL textbook for university students in China. We intend to understand the balance of the use and application, of the advantages and disadvantages of a textbook designed for a specific geographic and cultural public and context.
