2222: De volta às suas origens, Lisboa encontra-se intramuros.
Devido à resistência face às mudanças relacionadas à subida do nível da água, toda a sua frente
ribeirinha deu lugar a uma grande infraestrutura de proteção. Do outro lado do Tejo, na Margem Sul,
a topografia acentuada ao longo de toda a encosta proporciona uma defesa natural que favoreceu um
grande crescimento populacional e urbano.
Em um dos vértices da Margem Sul, a Trafaria, agora com caráter de cidade, foi um dos territórios que
mais se desenvolveu desde o século XXI, embora muito afetado pelas mudanças climáticas. Devido à
sua localização geográfica, situada na porta de entrada do Tejo, a Trafaria tirou partido da subida das
águas para se expandir em direção a esta, desenvolvendo atividades portuárias e marítimas, um setor
que cresceu exponencialmente depois que a água começou a tomar o lugar da terra.
Com base neste contexto imaginário, situado 200 anos à frente do tempo atual, desenvolve-se o
presente trabalho, um projeto para o ano de 2222 na zona da Trafaria.
Devido aos problemas que enfrentamos relacionados à crise ambiental, econômica e social, faz-se
necessário recorrer aos pensamentos utópicos e a proposição de um cenário ideal, para através deste
poder re-imaginar a cidade em que vivemos.
O Projeto Final de Mestrado desenvolve-se assim numa hipótese de cenário futuro para a área da
Margem Sul, tendo como foco a Trafaria. Uma reflexão traduzida em projeto, acerca das adaptações
face às alterações climáticas numa situação extrema, principalmente com relação à subida do nível do
mar, desde a escala territorial à arquitetónica.
2222: Back to its origins, Lisbon finds itself within the walls. Due to changes related to water level rise, Lisbon's entire riverfront has allowed the construction of a huge protection infrastructure. On the other side of the Tagus, the South Bank, the accentuated topography along the entire slope provides a natural defense that stimulated a large population and urban growth. On one of the Southern Bank sides, Trafaria, more city-like, is one of the territories that has developed the most since the 21st century, although highly affected by climate change. Due to its geographical location, situated at the Tagus gateway, Trafaria took advantage of the water rise to expand towards it, developing port and maritime activities; an area that has grown exponentially after the water had begun to take over the land. Thus, the present work is developed based on this imaginary context, settled 200 years from now, in the year 2222 and located in Trafaria. Considering the problems we are facing, related to the environmental, economic and social crisis, it is necessary to investigate a utopian reality and the proposal of an ideal scenario, by which we can reimagine the city where we live. Accordingly, this Master's Final Project was developed in a hypothetical future scenario for the South Bank area, focusing on Trafaria: a reflection, translated into a project, about the adjustments needed to face climate change in an extreme situation, mainly regarding sea levels rise, from territorial to architectural scale.
