Abstract(s)
This internship report was compiled as part for the conclusion of the MA in Art History and Heritage at the University of Lisbon. The internship took place at the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum, with a specific focus on the areas of education, mediation and participatory curation. During the internship the ICOM definition of “museum” changed (ICOM, 2022a). The objectives of the internship were closely aligned with changes in the definition, namely accessibility, inclusion and public diversity were focus points of the work in education and mediation, while the creation of knowledge and engaging with the community were essential for the work in participatory curation. Hence the report is dedicated firstly to education and mediation and then to participatory curation. Both parts offer theoretical reflections on the subjects in question followed by the description of the practical work of the internship.
