O artigo avalia estatísticas sobre o terrorismo para os seguintes países: Burkina-Faso, Chade, Eritreia, Etiópia, Mauritânia, Mali, Níger, Nigéria, Senegal e Sudão (antes da subdivisão em dois países). Começa por contextualizar a realidade sociopolítica do Sahel, antes de apresentar uma explicação para os fenómenos de terrorismo na região. São identificados alguns dos principais grupos terroristas a operar no Sahel.
The article analyses statistics for terrorism in the following countries: Burkina Faso, Chad, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Mauritania, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal and Sudan (before subdivision into two countries). It begins by contextualizing the socio-political realities of Sahel, before presenting an explanation for the phenomena of terrorism in the region. It identifies some of the major terrorist groups operating in the Sahel.
