Setúbal foi uma cidade muito ligada às atividades piscatórias e trocas comercias, pelo seu contacto direto com o rio sado e o oceano Atlântico. Por isso teve uma expansão urbana em direção ao rio em função dessas atividades. Com a evolução tecnológica e a necessidade de espaço, por parte desse tipo de atividades, certas funções desapareceram ou foram realocadas, ao que resultou no abandono de armazéns e aparecimento de zonas vazias sem qualquer utilidade na zona ribeirinha de setúbal. Tal como aconteceu com lisboa, por exemplo, ou em Manhattan, cidades estas que já sofreram, de certa forma, renovações que proporcionaram melhor qualidade de vida para os habitantes das mesmas. Dito isto na presente tese pretende-se integrar, na zona ribeirinha de Setúbal, perto do Baluarte do Livramento, um Parque escolar, com o intuito de dar início ao processo de renovação desta área, atraindo novos habitantes e investidores que possam contribuir para uma melhor qualidade de vida para esta parte da cidade, que está demasiado industrializada para a época em que nos encontramos.
Setúbal was a city closely linked to fishing activities and commercial exchanges, due to its direct contact with the Sado River and the Atlantic Ocean. That's why there was urban expansion towards the river due to these activities. With technological evolution and the need for space for this type of activity, certain functions disappeared or were relocated, resulting in the abandonment of warehouses and the appearance of empty areas without any use in the riverside area of Setúbal. As happened with Lisbon, for example, or Manhattan, cities that have already undergone, in a certain way, renovations that provided a better quality of life for their inhabitants. Having said this, this thesis intends to integrate, in the riverside area of Setúbal, close to Baluarte do Livramento, a school park, with the aim of starting the process of renovation of this area, attracting new inhabitants and investors who can contribute to a better quality of life for this part of the city, which is too industrialized for the time in which we find ourselves.
