Observar a cobertura da imprensa portuguesa nas eleições europeias em quatro jornais
generalistas em relação à visibilidade; ao exercício dos papéis normativos do jornalismo
e à diversidade foram os objectivos centrais desta investigação. Os resultados da
aplicação da análise de conteúdo e do método comparado apontam a visibilidade e
indicam importância das eleições europeias na óptica da imprensa portuguesa. Os papéis
normativos do jornalismo foram exercidos em grau médio e predominou uma estratégia
proporcional de reflexão das forças políticas. A diversidade de conteúdos e de fontes
informativas foi baixa na imprensa portuguesa no âmbito cobertura das eleições
europeias.
The aim of this research was observer the coverage of the portuguese press in European Elections in four general newspapers about visibility; the exercise of normative journalistic roles and diversity of contents. The outcomes, through application of the content analysis and comparative method, show the visibility and the importance of the European Elections in the perspective of the portuguese press. The normative roles of journalism were exercise in intermediate degree and preponderate the proportional strategy of reflection the political forces. The diversity of contents and sources were low in the coverage of European Election.
