Ao longo dos anos surgiram diversas formas de “habitar” e ocupar as áreas periféricas. Desde uma paisagem urbana com pequenos aglomerados urbanos e marcadamente rurais até à cidade alargada densamente construída e povoada, a paisagem urbana mudou drasticamente.
Resultante de vários processos de transformação e como resposta ao rápido crescimento das cidades e ao aparecimento do automóvel surgiram novas infraestruturas viárias que vieram redefinir a paisagem e a organização do tecido urbano. As zonas periféricas tornaram-se descaracterizadas, desorganizadas e fragmentadas. Os espaços públicos, os recursos naturais e a mobilidade urbana activa ou colectiva passaram para segundo plano em prol da construção massiva de habitação e de infraestruturas viárias.
Não correspondendo às necessidades da vida contemporânea, os espaços públicos tornaram-se nas áreas sobrantes dos loteamentos privados, pouco qualificadas e por muitas vezes resultando em simples vazios urbanos. Neste quadro, torna-se importante refletir proactivamente sobre alguns dos IGT em vigor e definir novas linhas de ação. Estes têm um papel medidor e regulamentador para futuras transformações, promovendo territórios mais coesos, qualificados e competitivos. Todavia, são vários os desafios que se colocam nestes territórios, e a cidade de AgualvaCacém não é exceção.
Não existem espaços de encontro qualificados (como Largos e Praças) ou espaços verdes que fomentem as relações interpessoais e como tal, torna-se necessário intervir no espaço público. Desta forma, através da Requalificação do espaço público no Núcleo Urbano de Agualva-Cacém como a mobilidade ativa com continuidades pedonais, clicáveis e viárias, numa estrutura verde e azul e na dimensão edificada, que alberga áreas de residência, comércio e serviços pretende-se contribuir para uma melhor qualidade de vida destes moradores e que assim possam (RE) VIVER o Espaço Público.
ABSTRACT: Over the years, several ways to "inhabit" and occupy the peripheral areas have emerged. From an urban landscape with small urban and markedly rural clusters to the densely built and populated city, the image of the landscape has changed dramatically. Resulting from various transformation processes and in response to the rapid growth of cities and the appearance of the automobile emerged new road infrastructures that have redefined the landscape and the organization of urban fabric. Peripheral areas have become mischaracterized, disorganized and fragmented. Public spaces, natural resources and urban mobility have moved to the background in favor of the massive construction of housing and road infrastructure. Not corresponding to the needs of contemporary life, public spaces have become the remaining areas of private allotments, few and often result in simple urban voids. In this context, it is important to proactively reflect on some of existing IGT and define new lines of action. These have a measuring and regulating role for future transformations, promoting more cohesive, qualifying and competitive territories. However, there are several challenges that arise in these territories. And the city of Agualva- Cacém is no exception. There are no qualified meeting spaces (such as Largos and Squares) or green spaces that foster interpersonal relationships and as such, it is necessary to intervene in the public space. Thus, through the Requalification of the public space in the Urban Nucleus of Agualva-Cacém as active mobility with pedestrian, cycling and road continuities, in a green and blue structure and in the built dimension, which houses areas of residence, commerce and services is intended to contribute to a better quality of life these residents and that can thus (RE) LIVE the Public Space.
