A documentação referente às práticas funerárias sidéricas no Sul do actual território português reveste-se de uma notável riqueza e complexidade, que tem vindo de resto a ser incrementada nos últimos anos por uma série de trabalhos que vieram acrescentar importantes dados para a análise do fenómeno da morte durante a I Idade do Ferro na área em apreço. O presente contributo constitui uma sucinta resenha do panorama actualmente disponível, insistindo no facto de o carácter diversificado e fragmentado desse panorama constituir um reflexo fiel da diversidade das comunidades que ocuparam, durante a 1ª metade do I milénio a.n.e., o Sul de Portugal.
The information concerning the Iron Age funerary practices in the Southern Portuguese territory is characterized by a notable richness and complexity which has been increasing in recent years dues to a number of interventions which have yielded very important data for the analysis of the phenomenon of death during the Early Iron Age in the area under study. This contribution aims to present a short review of the currently available panorama, while insisting on the fact that the diversified and fragmentary nature of that panorama constitutes an accurate reflection of the diversity of the communities which occupied the South of Portugal in the early 1st millennium BCE.
