O presente estudo sobre a Lancha-canhoneira Pátria resulta de uma dissertação e mestrado em ciências da Documentação e Informação, focando-se no seu sistema de informação. Inicia com um breve enquadramento histórico da sua aquisição, problematizando-se, depois, o Ultimato Inglês, e descrevendo os acontecimentos subsequentes até à aquisição da Lancha-canhoneira. No que concerne ao seu sistema de informação, descreveu-se como funcionava a circulação da informação no interior da canhoneira.
A análise teórica dos sistemas de informação visa uma compreensão do conceito, bem como o enquadramento deste no campo da Ciência da Informação.
Quanto à metodologia, recorreu-se à observação directa, assim como ao estudo de caso. A análise da documentação e da legislação permitiu reconstituir a estrutura orgânico-funcional do produtor, a qual se encontra espelhada no quadro de classificação proposto.
Sendo possível observar a problemática inerente ao Arquivos históricos, tornando-se latente a necessidade de organização da informação, recorrendo às regras nacionais e internacionais de organização e representação Arquivística, designadamente ao nível da descrição, para, deste modo, potenciar o acesso à informação.
The present study on the Pátria gunboat results from a dissertation and master's degree in Documentation and Information Sciences, focusing on its information system. It begins with a brief historical background of its acquisition, and then discusses the English Ultimatum, and describes the subsequent events until the acquisition of the gunboat. As far as its information system was concerned, the circulation of information inside the gunboat was described. The theoretical analysis of the information systems aims at an understanding of the concept, as well as the framework of the information systems in the field of Information Science. As for the methodology, we used direct observation, as well as the case study. The analysis of the documentation and the legislation made it possible to reconstitute the organic-functional structure of the producer, which is mirrored in the proposed classification framework. It is possible to observe the problems inherent in the Historical Archives, making latent the need for information organization, using the national and international rules of organization and representation in Archival science, namely at the level of the description, in order to enhance access to information.
