ABSTRACT - Prevalence of Q Fever in bulk tank milk of dairy cow farms in the central west coast of Portugal - The present study aimed to evaluate the prevalence of antibody against C. burnetii, present in the bulk tank milk of dairy cow farms in the coastal center area, through an ELISA test, applied in 84 dairy farms within the intervention circle of the agriculture cooperative Proleite, which is located in the district of Aveiro. Bulk milk samples were collected from all dairy farms, and were analyzed through serological testing. The apparent prevalence obtained was very high, reaching 90,5%, which corresponds to 76 farms. Negative results were obtained in seven farms (8,3%), and only one (1,2%) had a doubtful outcome. At the same time, 38 of the studied dairy farms, participated in a survey which aimed to understand the association between the putative risk factors and the prevalence. After the statistical analysis, it was concluded that only four of the 14 risk factors studied demonstrated to have a positive or negative association depending on the group of variables, in particular the breeds present (p=0,012), the type of bedding (p=0,048), the reproductive control frequency (p=0,006) and the existence of a calving pen (p=0,049). Finally, the reproductive consequences, and also the production ones, were studied using seven variables. Of these, none showed statistical
