- Diálogos e contaminações entre fotografia e pintura : alteração e manipulação da memória na fotografiaPublication . Agostinho, Rodrigo José de Matos; Pereira, Fernando António BaptistaPhotography had a very strong relationship with the theme of memory, photography being one of the best methods of preserving events and recording memory, capable of capturing what the mind has forgotten, through a myriad of recall processes. The event event-preserving ability of photography comes from its method of production, due to the fact that the photograph is created by the chemical recording of reflected light. Due to the nature of this reflection, it can be said that the light was in contact and that it preserves in the photograph this contact with the object or event represented in the image. The mind is fallible, within both personal and collective memory there are processes through which the mind tries to completely for get what it considers irrelevant, to join several memories or to fill in the missing content with information information. Photography is one of the best methods of overcoming the fallacy of memory, visually showing what it has been forgotten and allowing to trigger the remembering process. But the processes by which photography helps to recall what memory may have forgotten are also themselves fallible, the image can be altered in ways that make the viewer remember differently and in some cases build or eliminate, accidentally or on purpose, narratives within the individual's memory or within the collective memory of a group. Photopainting imitates the photographic processes and as such also imitates the mnemonic processes that impact photography, which makes me wonder, in this project, how our collective memory can be impacted in the future by a perverse or misguided use of photopainting

- Recalled Parental Emotion Socialisation and Psychological Distress: The Role of Emotional SchemasPublication . Sebastião, Rita; Neto, David Dias; Silva, Ana Nunes DaRecalled parental emotion socialisation has been associated with psychological distress in adulthood. Since emotional schemas develop from interpersonal interaction and can result in pathological reactions, they can be an important mechanism. The present study analyses the mediator role of emotional schemas in the relationship between recalled parental emotion socialisation and psychological distress. A community sample of 246 Portuguese adults, between 18 and 73 years old (M = 34.3, SD = 13.32), completed the following self-report measures: Emotional (In)Validation Experiences Scale; Leahy Emotional Schema Scale; and Brief Symptom Inventory 18. Two mediation models were estimated, one for each parent. Emotional schemas mediated the relationship between recalled parental emotion socialisation and psychological distress. Negative evaluation of emotion was the strongest mediator in the relationship between emotional invalidation and psychological distress while difficulties in reappraisal was the strongest mediator in the relationship between emotional validation and psychological distress. Differences were observed between the mother’s and father’s models. Results highlight the importance of emotional schemas in understanding the role of parental emotion socialisation in psychological distress, which may have important implications for intervention and prevention.
- Spirulina and Chlorella vulgaris as ingredients in diet of weaned piglets : a valorization approach using feed enzymesPublication . Martins, Cátia Falcão; Prates, José António Mestre; Freire, João Pedro Bengala; Almeida, André Martinho deABSTRACT - Worldwide swine production will face challenges in the coming years associated with feeding, mainly due to the high cost and environmental impact of importation of conventional feedstuffs. Therefore, the need for sustainable alternative feedstuffs is clear. Microalgae, due to their production systems, may be a sustainable alternative. However, their recalcitrant cell walls decrease nutrient bioavailability for pigs. To solve the association with feed enzymes, namely Carbohydrates-Active enZymes (CAZymes), has been equated. Arthrospira platensis (Spirulina) and Chlorella vulgaris are the two most studied microalgae, as a supplement, in swine feeding. Thus, in an initial approach, the aim of this Thesis was to evaluate the inclusion of 10% Spirulina in diets of post-weaned piglets, supplemented with two CAZymes (Rovabio® Excel AP or lysozyme) on growth performance, nutrient digestibility, health status, liver metabolism and meat quality traits. Growth performance was negatively affected by this dietary inclusion, with a significant increase in digesta viscosity and a lower protein digestibility. The use of lysozyme, in contrast to Rovabio® Excel AP, proved to be more efficient in the degradation of cell walls; however, the released proteins were not absorbed, as animal growth was impaired. Meat quality traits were not affected by the inclusion of Spirulina, individually or supplemented with feed enzymes, as well as no changes were observed on hepatic metabolism despite the improvement in hepatic antioxidant potential, especially in terms of total carotenoids. On a second approach, a post-weaning piglet trial was performed to determine the nutritional value of diets with 5% Chlorella vulgaris, supplemented with two CAZymes (Rovabio® Excel AP or a mixture of 4-CAZymes previously tested in vitro). Chlorella vulgaris inclusion negatively affected the digestibility of nutrients but without direct effects on growth performance, which can be explained by the compensatory mechanisms observed (greater development of the intestinal mucosa and predominance of beneficial bacteria on intestinal microflora). Meat quality traits were not affected by such dietary inclusion. Systematic antioxidant potential, immune response and hepatic lipid metabolism were improved in the groups fed with Chlorella vulgaris. In conclusion, the results indicate that microalgae have the potential to be exploited as ingredients in swine diets, providing meat nutritional enhancement and improving the health status of the animals. However, reducing the production cost and further knowledge of their nutritional value is necessary
