- Net art e igualdade de Género : cocriação com mulheres de casas de abrigoPublication . Furtado, Teresa Veiga; Gouveia, Patrícia Cristina e Silva Figueira; Lisboa, Manuel Gaspar da SilvaThe central objective of this exploratory research is to analyse how the community art practice of net art can have a social function as a tool for empowerment, self-esteem and identity, using an action methodology (action research) art based (arts-based research) through the creation, production and dissemination of practical artistic projects (project-based research), and having as a case study women from shelters that are victims of domestic violence. Domestic violence against women is an established reality in Portugal, having reached a truly shocking number of feminicides in the last years. These abusive acts happen mostly in the private sphere, in intimate and family relationships, being carried out mainly by partners and ex-partners and are based on inequality and gender stereotypes. Having the Internet emerged in the mid 1990's, being since the last decade a mass communication medium, and presenting an enormous potential that has since then been explored by artists, we consider the Internet an ideal space for the creation and dissemination of projects with Women from Shelter Homes, the case study of this research. The artistic practice that is sought in this project focuses on the creative processes rather than the final artistic object, being inheritor of artists such as Mierle Laderman Ukeles, George Maciunas and Joseph Beuys who linked art to new dimensions, relations and political, social, and democratic meanings, an art that can represent us collectively. Throughout the research, net art projects will be carried out in co-creative laboratories with women from shelters, to consolidate their self-esteem and promote their self-sufficiency, capacity for change and social reinsertion. We do not claim that participative artistic practice is a solution to such a complex problem as domestic violence, but we believe that it can be one of the contributions to its resolution

Costa, Pedro Rodrigo; Gamito, Maria Joao Pestana Noronha; Duarte, Eduardo Manuel AlvesThis theoretical-practical work aims to build, from 3D modeling techniques, visual narratives in digital images in formats such as static images, animated images, short animations and stereoscopic images with the theme Legends of Portugal. These images represent classic categories of the study of legends, such as historical, religious and supernatural legends, among others, while exploring the presence of the five human senses, a mandatory condition for some of these legends to happen. With this material, it is intended to build a website where users can access the narratives and consult them using different filters and query categories, such as their classic categories and the five senses. This brings the theme of Legends of Portugal to the universe of images and digital platforms
- A terceira mão : o gesto informePublication . Souza, Daniel Moraes Siqueira; Jacinto, João Manuel da Rocha; Portella, IsabelThe experience of the disabled body is the focus of this dissertation. The Third Hand is the subjective organism that stitches together the fragments of personal memory, artistic practice, and conceptual references. Between the efficiency and the deficiency of the body, the similarity and dissimilarity between the hands, there is the formless gesture in dialogue with Georges Bataille that is manifested through the drawing. His daily practice, inside and outside the studio, is the guiding thread of the confrontations between the hand and the instrument, between the hand and the world, in intimate research that reveals the symptoms behind the disabled corporeality, what I call decorporeity. Left hand and right hand in constant clashes in the capture of their gestural intentions, which from the drawing, unfold in performances, installations, and videos. The dissertation is built in three chapters that gradually lead to the approaches and findings of the study in intersection with works that subvert the function and symbology of the hands and with artists with disabilities who question the normative imaginary from their identities. Each chapter is composed of three subchapters that intertwine, with the series of drawings O Monstruário being the backbone that sustains the deviations of the body under investigation
- Estudo prospetivo da avaliação de dor oral em gatos com doenças dentáriasPublication . Lopes, Inês Alves de Sousa; Mestrinho, Lisa Alexandra Pereira; Fonseca, Maria João Dinis da (Tutora)As doenças que afetam a cavidade oral são muito comuns na prática clínica. No entanto, a maioria destas doenças podem ter poucos ou quase nenhuns sinais clínicos evidentes. O presente estudo teve como objetivo avaliar o nível de dor oral em contexto clínico, num grupo de gatos consultados num centro de atendimento médico veterinário, observar e reportar os comportamentos mais reconhecidos pelos detentores e verificar se a terapêutica instituída em cada caso permitiu uma redução nos níveis de dor oral. A metodologia incluiu o preenchimento da escala COPS-F, escala composta de dor oral e maxilofacial para gatos, tanto pelo detentor como pelo médico-veterinário, em 2 momentos - na primeira consulta e na consulta de reavaliação, e a recolha do diagnóstico e terapêutica instituída em cada animal. Com o modelo de regressão linear, verificou-se que o nível de dor é explicado pela idade, estadios da doença periodontal, lesões de reabsorção dentária e gengivo-estomatite crónica, sendo esta a doença que mais contribui para explicar o nível de dor. Apurou-se ainda que o número de dentes afetados se relaciona com o grau de dor experienciado pelo doente (91%). A alteração comportamental mais significativa relaciona-se com o comportamento alimentar, nomeadamente deixar cair comida, vocalizar enquanto mastiga ou comer maioritariamente com um dos lados da boca. Outros sinais clínicos predominantes incluíram a halitose e evitar ser tocado em redor da boca e nariz. Verificou-se que os níveis de dor reduziram significativamente após o tratamento, observáveis através da diminuição ou ausência dos comportamentos anteriormente reportados pelos detentores. Em conclusão, a avaliação da dor oral com recurso a uma escala validada permite maior consciência dos comportamentos de dor por parte dos detentores, ajudando no reconhecimento eficaz da resposta terapêutica. Consiste, portanto, numa ferramenta eficaz na comunicação clínica em consulta
- Sustentabilidade Alimentar: Do Futuro Incerto à Resposta CertaPublication . Luderer, Cynthia; Calado, Virgínia HenriquesNeste texto focámo-nos na noção de alimentação sustentável, tal como vem sendo divulgada em textos de referência nesta matéria. Desse modo, explorámos documentos emanados da Comissão Europeia, como a Estratégia do Prato ao Prado ou o Pacto Ecológico Europeu, para refletir, criticamente, sobre o modo como esta noção pode ser articulada com questões de coesão territorial. Partindo do sistema de ajudas financeiras diretas dadas a agricultores e grupos agrícolas na União Europeia, analisámos a discrepância na atribuição de recursos em função da área agrícola explorada. A constatação dessa condição, permitiu-nos equacionar o quanto a disparidade no sector — intrinsecamente ligado à alimentação — poderá́ contribuir para uma diminuição da coesão territorial e uma menor sustentabilidade do ponto de vista social. Na sequência desse exercício, identificámos as características da alimentação sustentável a partir da Agenda 2030 (Organização das Nações Unidas, 2015), bem como dos documentos a que fizemos referência, sem esquecer a enunciação de alguns dos paradoxos contidos neste tipo de dispositivos. Tendo por base essa caracterização, centrámo-nos, por fim, no modo como, em diferentes territórios (Montemor-o-Novo e Mértola), a sustentabilidade alimentar é adotada como pilar de enfrentamento das alterações climáticas e da coesão territorial e social.
