Resumo: | What are the origins of design thinking? Design thinking has a history, it has a context and it has actors. Today we look at design thinking as something new, as an innovation-oriented design methodology, from which all professionals can benefit. But this “new” design thinking is rooted in the history of design, in particular the development of industrial design. Design thinking is the design methodology (the prescriptive model of action) that naturally relates to the design process (the descriptive model of action) which has its origins in effective design practice. Nowadays this methodology is configured in a certain way, promoting certain characteristics and communicating specific design methods and tools. This configuration, characteristics, and tools have their origin in the designers we call pioneers, who at the beginning of the 20th century structured and systematized the design profession, strategically contributing to the development of the design thinking methodology. Industrial Design Thinking is the project that aims to synthesize the history and context of design thinking, mapping the methodologies and design tools, while paying homage to the pioneering figures of industrial design. This project materializes in a digital service, consisting of an online platform that globally disseminates knowledge about design thinking tools and their design heroes, helping to alert and inform the next generations of designers, and promote design culture. With greater awareness about the origins of design thinking, we are certain that its practice will be reinforced, and with this better design projects will emerge, which allow the creation of meaningful solutions for people (through desirable solutions), for the industry (through feasible and sustainable outcomes) and to the market (through viable solutions for business) |
