Abstract

A área em torno do local de intervenção apresenta um clima notável e contexto únicos pela estreita relação entre “Água”, “Terra vazia” e a história repetida do “Aterro”, características do local onde existiu u m a “ P o n t e ” e p e l o d e s e n v o l v i m e n t o “ O rg â n i c o ” d a envolvente. Esta é a chave para o desenho da proposta arquitetónica. Por outro lado, também era certo que o local perdeu a sua individualidade devido aos planos de construção que foram realizados no mesmo. Um edifício hospitalar alto construído em frente ao terreno de i n t e r v ençã o e o s a t e r r o s q u e f o r am concr e t i z ados muitas vezes em torno deste igoraram a qualidade inerente ao local e reduziram grandemente o involvimento que a área de vizinhança estabelecia com a natureza e a paisagem. É um problema que emerge devido ao bem conhecido conceito e pensamento d o r a c i o n a l i s m o / f u n c i o n a l i s m o e c a p i t a l i s m o , q u e é fortemente enfatizado na sociedade c o n t e m p o r â n e a , a p ó s o m o v i m e n t o m o d e r n o . É u m problema sério que afeta muitas cidades, e é uma q u e s t ã o d e r e c o n s i d e r a r e d e a p r e s e n t a r n o v a s possibilidades no pensamento da arquitetura e do desenho das cidades. A p lanta da casa é desenhada sob es tas circunstâncias . Não deve haver possibilidade de pensar a vida humana como um processo de fab r icação numa f á b r ica nem uma planta dedicada somente ao conceito d e r a z ã o e f u n ç ã o , m a s v i s a um p l a n o com d i v e r s o s lugares sendo flexível e intimamente relacionado à individualidade do ambiente circundante para suportar uma vida humana rica e profunda. O projeto pretende ser expresso como uma arquitetura individual que resolve o problema inerente a este local, que tem as qualidades únicas do clima rico e do seu espaço vivido.

ABSTRACT: This is a graduation design project and essays complementing each other at the master's course of Faculty of Architecture, University of Lisbon(FAUL). The main subject is a practical housing design (collective housing) planned on the target site which is located in the Alcântara area of Lisbon, Portugal. In addition, the theoretical part describes the thinking behind the design process and the significance of the housing design.The area around the target site has noteworthy unique climate and context with the close relationship between “Water ”, “Land-void” and the repeating history of “Landfill”, the characteristics of the place where one “Bri d g e ” c re a t e d , a n d t h e “Or g a n i c ” d e v e lopmen t process of the surroundings. This is the key for the proposal of the architectural design. O n t h e o t h e r h a n d , i t w a s a l s o c e r t a i n t h a t t h e place has lost its individuality due to the construction plans that have been carried out around it. A highrise hospital built in front of the site and the landfills t h a t h a v e b e e n c a r r i e d o ut many t i m e s a round i t have ignored the inherent quality and context of the s i t e, and have grea t ly reduced the involvement that t h e s u r rounding area has had with nature a n d t h e l a n d s c a p e . I t is a p roblem that emerged due t o t h e well matching concept and thought of rationalism/ f u n c t i o n a l i s m w i t h c a p i t a l i s m , w h i c h i s s t ro n g l y emphasized in curre n t s o c i e t y a f t e r the modernism movemen t . I t is a ser ious problem that effects many c i t i e s t o d a y, a n d i t i s a question t o reconsider and p r e s e n t n e w p o s s i b i l i t i e s i n t h i n k i n g a b o u t t h e architecture and city design.T h e h o u s i n g p l a n i s d e s i g n e d u n d e r t h e s e c i rc umst a n c e s . The re must b e no wa y t o t h i n k o f human life as a manufacturing process at a factory and not a plan devoted only to the concept of rational and funct ional, b u t i t a ims at a plan with diverse places being flexible and closely related to the individuality of the surrounding environment to be able to support a rich and profound human life. Project is intended to be expressed as an individual architecture that solves the inherent problem in this place that has the unique qualities of the rich climate in its living environment.
