Imagens femininas na literatura portuguesa e chinesa Tanta Gente, Mariana, de Maria Judite de Carvalho, e Cheong-Sam: a cabaia, de Deolinda da Conceição – um olhar comparativo

Este projeto de pesquisa procura oferecer uma perspetiva comparativa sobre
uma obra portuguesa de Maria Judite de Carvalho Tanta Gente, Mariana (1959) e
uma macaenese de Deolinda da Conceição Cheong-Sam - a Cabaia (1956). A escolha
do presente tema parte de uma crescente atenção sobre a questão das mulheres na
sociedade tanto na China quanto em Portugal, e o subsequente desenvolvimento da
sua posição e do seu poder, especialmente naquilo que diz respeito ao contexto do
patriarcado, mais especificamente relacionado com a emergência de autoras contra a
corrente dominante do cânone literário.
O objetivo do presente estudo é a observação de transformações nas ideias e
no comportamento feminino nas relações com os homens ou no crescimento pessoal,
especialmente nas fases iniciais do despertar da consciência feminina. Mais
concretamente, ao explorar e comparar a literatura das duas escritoras de
nacionalidade diferente, são reveladas as suas semelhanças e diferenças, de modo a
chegar às características da existência da mulher num sistema social patriarcal:
silêncio, inferioridade e submissão. Neste processo, algumas mulheres escolheram
lutar à sua própria maneira, e embora os resultados não tenham sidosatisfatórios,
encontraram o seu próprio sentido de identidade.
Dessa forma, este estudo parte das vivências de duas autoras: Maria Judite de
Carvalho (Portugal) e Deolinda da Conceição (Macau, China), através do contexto do
seu crescimento, para conhecer melhor a sua obra, e as personagens criadas, o
contexto da guerra e formação social daquele momento para refletir sobre os
significados da consciência feminina.
This research project seeks to offer a comparative perspective on a Portuguese workby Maria Judite de Carvalho Tanta Gente, Mariana (1959) and a Macanese workby Deolinda da Conceição Cheong-Sam: a Cabaia (1956). The choice of the present theme stems from a growing attention on the issue of women in society both in China and Portugal, and the subsequent development of women's position and powers, especially in what concerns the context of patriarchy, more specifically related to the emergence of female authors against the mainstream of the literary canon. The aim of the present study is the observation of transformations in female ideas and behavior in relations with men or in personal growth, especially in the early stages of the awakening of female consciousness. More specifically, by exploring the literature on the two female writers of different nationality, the comparison reveals their similarities and differences, in order to get to the characteristics of women's existence in a patriarchal social system: silence, inferiority and submission. And in this process, some women chose to struggle in their own way, and although the results were not satisfactory, they found their own sense of identity. Thus, this study starts from the experiences of two female authors: Maria Judite de Carvalho (Portugal) and Deolinda da Conceição (Macau, China), through their growing up context to know better their work, and the characters created, the context of war and social formation of that moment to reflect on the meanings of female consciousness.
